Conceived out of friendship, Concern Foundation for Cancer Research has been one of Los Angeles’s best-known and most beloved charities. Concern is dedicated to raising and granting funds to support cancer research worldwide pioneering support of cancer research, specifically in funding young scientists and immunology research.  The lifeblood of Concern has always been the volunteers and Marshall, Heather & Marni exemplify that volunteer spirit.

Since inception in 1968 many families have become involved with the organization in various capacities and in this video we get to meet and hear from Marshall, Heather and Marni Glick two generations of their family that have been involved with Concern for over 45 years.  They share stories of how cancer has sadly had a profound impact on their family and how volunteering for Concern is so important to each of them. Starting with the loss of Donna Shelly, Marshall’s wife and the girl’s mother to breast cancer and each of the daughter’s own cancer diagnoses, has made supporting Concern an important part of each of their lives while they all carry on the legacy of Donna Shelly one of Concern’s amazing volunteers. To the Glick family, Concern is not just another fund raising organization it is a part of their family and raising funds and volunteering is second nature to them so that we can get closer to conquering this disease.
